Introduction

Biotechnology is an emerging high technology that needs integration of multiple disciplines. Various applications of biotechnology already had contributed to provide human society including application in agriculture, aquaculture, food production, pharmaceutical, medical, chemical, environmental protection and energy. Thereafter, Biotechnology has been recognized as the most important high-tech industry in the 21st century. With this perception, Institute of Biotechnology was established on 1st August 1998 and currently an independent institute in the College of Bioscience and Biotechnology.
